Teenage Skin Care

Around age twelve is the perfect time to start a good skin regime. It is essential to ensure a good skin care routine, quality products and possible further treatments from the start to minimise possible long term effects such as Acne scarring and Pigmentation.

The number one skin condition most teenagers struggle with, is Acne.

Here are a few must-knows

What is the cause of acne?

Acne is often caused by hormonal changes that occur during puberty, which can cause the skin to produce more oil. This excess oil can clog hair follicles, leading to the formation of acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. Acne can also be caused by genetics, meaning that if someone in your family has had acne, you may be more likely to develop it too. Other factors that can contribute to acne include certain types of bacteria that live on the skin, as well as diet, gut health, environmental factors, and certain medications.

It’s important to remember that acne is a normal part of growing up, and most people experience it at some point in their lives. The good news is that there are many effective treatments available for acne, including derma-cosmeceutical products like cleansers and spot treatments, as well as prescription medications that can help clear up acne. We offer treatments like Deep Cleanse Facials, as well as further advanced treatments, like Intense Pulse Ligting treatments for Acne, as well as Scarring Treatments post-acne. It’s extremely important to practice good skin hygiene from the start, and focusing on quality, preferably derma-cosmeceutical products, while avoiding picking or squeezing pimples, which can make acne worse.

Don’t be a pimple popper.

It’s important to avoid popping pimples or picking at acne on your own. Popping pimples can cause the bacteria and oil to spread, leading to more pimples and even scarring. It can also push the infected material deeper into the skin, causing further inflammation.

The best treatment for acne includes the following: Maintain a healthy diet, practice good skin hygiene with quality, derma-cosmeceutical products, have a deep cleanse facial at a reputable beauty salon monthly, and consider taking a pre-and probiotic. Should extreme acne be experienced, IPL treatments, as well as prescription medicine may be the answer.
